Mount Horrocks Semillon 2007
Bright pale lemon with tints of lime.
Varietally authentic lemon-spice-straw aromas with stylish oak influences. This is a delicate yet flavoursome oaked Semillon. It posseses a delightful stony-mineral element contrasted by a creamy (but not buttery) texture derived from yeast lees contact and oak maturation. Flavours of baked lemon cheesecake, a touch of apricot, some herbal-straw notes and its lively minerality combine to give a beguiling wine that finishes with a cleansing acidity.
Absolutely delicious seafood wine – try with steamed blue swimmer crab or baked whole fish in aromatic asian herbs. Will cellar and develop interestingly over 5-8 years.
MOUNT
HORROCKS 2006 SEMILLON
Bright pale lemon with tints of green. Evocative spice aromas and lemon-lime rind along with just a touch of lanolin. Distinctively Semillon.
With a touch more flavour and depth than past releases, this is a rich, warm and long wine with creamy, tangy apple and mineral-like notes - slightly chalky even. Great food wine that combines the variety's typical tang and zesty appeal plus some richness from the 100% barrrel fermentation and high quality oak regime. Facinating and more-ish, one for now or the cellar (up to 8 years).
